Microadventures: Some Sunday Hiking and Climbing at the Karlsruher Grat

On Sunday, eventually, Martin and me hopped in the car and made our way down to Ottenhöfen to finally conquer the Karlsruher Grat together. We have been talking about this little weekend escape for almost a year by now. Martin has already made a winter traverse in full mountain gear so I was excited to try myself on the ridge during summertime. We followed the route starting from the “Edelfrauengrab” along the waterfalls which then lead up to the mountain ridge. However, there are multiple other hiking trails, for more information see outdoor active.

First up, the path led us along beautiful cascades in a narrow valley. The sound of the gurgling water followed us along until we turned on a bigger path and came along this little “serve-yourself-bar” with various local “schnaps” and also some fresh coke and fanta for the little ones (or us).

Up on the ridge. Good hiking boots are a must!

On top of the world enjoying the views.

Lunch on the highest point of the ridge.

I can only recommend this trail for a late-summer outdoor adventure. It took us about three hours including our lunch break for the whole round. Happy hiking!
